2016 Town Centre Projects

Visual Merchandising Project.

Girvan Press Release

Following a successful Visual Merchandising pilot project in Girvan over 2014/2015, with 11 businesses taking part who experienced an increase in sales, improvement in shop visuals and layout, we would like to offer this opportunity to the businesses within Ayr Town centre.

We have the opportunity for 10 businesses to take part in this exciting project which will commence spring/early summer 2016 and to work with our visual merchandiser. With a minimum contribution of £100 and your commitment to participate in the programme, we will unlock further support for your business throughout the lifetime of your involvement.

If you are interested in becoming involved, and are prepared to agree to the minimum contribution of £100 or indeed if you’d like to know more about it, then please don’t hesitate to contact us on 01292 616 372 or alternatively email john.fleming@south-ayrshire.gov.uk.

Innovate Research Project.

Simon Quin, Director of the Institute of Place Management addressed Ayr Retailers in July 2015 and presented an interesting insight into the challenges facing businesses within Town Centres.

2016 provides an opportunity to become involved in a Nationwide research project aimed at determining the correlation between footfall and sales for businesses within a Town centre. Normally a project of this size and significance can be costly, but Ayr is the ONLY town in Scotland fortunate enough to benefit from full funding and joins project partners such as:

  • Springboard Research Ltd.
  • South Ayrshire Council
  • Bristol City Council
  • Congleton Town Council
  • Keep Homfirth Special
  • Mid and East Antrim Borough Council
  • Morley Town Centre Management Board
  • Wrexham County Borough Council.
  • Manchester Metropolitan University.
  • Cardiff University
  • MyKnowldgeMap Ltd.
  • ATCM (Association of Town and City Management)
  • BCSC
  • NABMA (National Association of British Market Authorities)
  • NMTF (National Market Traders Federation)
  • NewRiver Retail
  • Pinpointer
