The Ayr Town Centre Steering Group provided window Vinyls for 9 vacant properties within Ayr to help increase letting potential and to improve the overall appearance of Ayr’s shopping areas.
As well as an insight into the Ayr Town Centre Steering Group’s aims and objectives, we were also treated to a presentation from Simon Quin, Director of Place Management on the challenges and opportunities town based businesses face today.
The evening was well received by all who attended and provided some myth busting facts about High Street planning and regeneration.
On Thursday 27th August, the Town Centre Steering Group organised an event for local business owners and retailers titled ‘Making the most of local events’.
Russell Ferguson on RFM Marketing and a chartered Marketing Consultant gave an in-depth presentation of how local business owners could capitalise on local events with the Scottish Airshow event being used as the example.
Attendees were guided through the process of how to alter their marketing and advertising strategies to enable them to maximise on the footfall generated by the Scottish Airshow.
Doug McLean, organiser of the Airshow gave an introduction to the attendees on what the Airshow was, when it was established and highlighted the opportunities available to the local businesses of the high volume of visitors likely to be in the town due to the event.
Despite the low attendance, those who were present were delighted with the vast amount of ideas presented by Russell, and equally impressed with the Steering Group’s continued efforts in working with local businesses and stakeholders to improve business and trading within the auld town.
This workshop was the second in a planned series of business events organised by the Town Centre Steering Group and plans are already underway for the next one!.
